However, a more recent Harris Poll survey has shown that doctors lead the list of most prestigious occupations. Other professionals on the leading list include firefighters, scientists, and military officers.

 

“The occupations at the top of the list are generally those that are vital to civilization and the society,” Kathy Steinberg from Harris Poll stated. “Engineers, medical professionals, military, firefighters, and architects are not among the typical jobs.” “In most cases, they are the people we trust with our lives, who accomplish impossible or heroic deeds and leave lasting legacies,” she said.

Engineerings are different. If you searched the phrase “engineering programs” on Google or any other search engine, you will get over 40 different engineering careers and degrees. That is for the reason that engineering is a very broad term that covers many industries and applications. “Engineers combine science, mathematics, and technology to produce creative solutions to the real-world problems.” “For that reason, engineering careers are different,” claims Cathy.

 

In the past, engineering was divided into four branches – chemical, mechanical, electrical, and civil. Each of the four branches had many sub-branches. Their projects could be as tiny as microchips or as huge as involving power station generators. They are credited for inventing radios, induction motors, television, and many more items.
  • Civil Engineers: These engineers are among the most recognizable. They are responsible for the country’s infrastructures, including roads, dams, bridges, and buildings. Their field covers everything from subway construction to water usage.
  • Aerospace Engineers: Also known as aeronautical engineers, aerospace engineers design, build, and test spacecraft and aircraft. They design helicopters, airplanes, rockets, missiles, and satellites for national defense.
  • Biomedical Engineers: Also known as medical engineers, these engineers study problems in the medical industry and develop solutions. How to Become an Entry-Level Engineer

 

To start working as an entry-level engineer, you must earn a bachelor’s degree in your interested field. If you are interested in electrical engineering, you will need a degree in electrical engineering. You might need to complete a master’s degree or a doctorate if your goal is to work as a researcher or an educator. Professional certification is not needed but it will open up more opportunities in the job market.

 

Entry-level engineers design, build and maintain functional aspects of structures, products, or systems for their engineering industry.
